Who Dr Araba Amo-Aidoo?
I am an accomplished engineer, renewable-energy specialist, and climate-policy expert with extensive international experience across carbon markets, Article 6 implementation, IRECs, and clean-energy project development since 2012. I have supported governments, multilateral institutions, and private-sector developers across Africa, Southeast Asia, and North America, working at the intersection of engineering, climate governance, carbon finance, and sustainable-energy systems.
I am recognized for my leadership in developing and implementing Mitigation Activity Design Documents (MADDs) and other Article 6 instruments under the Paris Agreement. I have led the design, structuring, and technical development of MADDs across multiple sectors, including commercial and industrial energy efficiency, solar PV deployment for social institutions, waste-to-energy pathways, and electric-mobility integration. I have also supported national readiness for Article 6, Internationally Transferrable Mitigation Outcomes (ITMOs), cooperative approaches, and bilateral engagements with international partners.
My work in International Renewable Energy Certificates (IRECs) further strengthens my global profile. I have supported renewable-energy developers in Southeast Asia and North America through feasibility assessments, engineering reviews, certification support, compliance analysis, and project documentation. These efforts help unlock international renewable-energy markets and enhance the value of clean-energy assets for clients.
I bring deep technical experience in renewable-energy project development—particularly solar, wind, and off-grid solutions—as well as strong expertise in waste-management consulting, biogas-digester system design, and the assessment of waste-to-energy opportunities. My broader consulting practice covers policy design, MRV systems, carbon-finance structuring, capacity building, and negotiation support for governments and large institutions.
I represent Ghana as a Party delegate to the UNFCCC and serve as the national expert leading all Article 6 bilateral engagements as well as the newly established Waste-to-Energy with Electric Vehicles mitigation sector. These roles draw on my strengths in diplomacy, technical analysis, policy formulation, and stakeholder coordination.
Beyond consulting and international work, I have a strong academic and institutional leadership background. I serve as a Lecturer, where I teach, mentor students, and contribute to curriculum and research development in renewable-energy systems. I was also the Solar Energy Coordinator at the Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, managing off-grid solar electrification for island and underserved communities. In addition, I serve as a Council Member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers, contributing to national engineering policy and the advancement of the profession.
My engineering excellence has been recognized at the national level: I was honoured as the Overall Best National Female Engineer in 2016, reflecting my impact, leadership, and contributions to Ghana’s technical development.
I am committed to supporting governments, institutions, and global businesses to design climate-aligned strategies, unlock carbon-finance opportunities, and implement sustainable-energy programs with measurable impact. I am currently exploring opportunities with multinational organizations including those based in Hamburg, Germany where I can apply my combined technical, policy, and market expertise to advance the global energy transition, climate-market innovation, and decarbonization strategies.
